16-02-2024

The FemCritica Journal is pleased to announce the opening of the call for academic articles under the theme 'The Construction of the Female Character in Recent Hispano-American Literature.' This call invites researchers and scholars to contribute original works that explore and analyze the representation and construction of female characters in contemporary literature from Hispano-America.

Context and Justification

Contemporary Hispano-American literature has witnessed a flourishing of female voices that challenge and question traditional representations of women in society and culture. From the second half of the 20th century to the present day, authors from various countries in Latin America have addressed issues related to gender identity, sexuality, violence, politics, and history, among others, through the creation of complex and multifaceted female characters.

In this context, it becomes imperative to explore how these characters are constructed and represented in contemporary Hispano-American literature. How are the experiences, desires, struggles, and aspirations of women articulated through literary fiction? What narrative and stylistic strategies do authors use to give voice and visibility to female experiences? How do these representations engage with gender discourses, history, and politics in the region?
